Having just finished reading Private Dancer, written by Stephen Leather, I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone interested in visiting Thailand.
Whilst it certainly is not a guide book in the traditional sense, it does give a vivid 'behind the scenes' introduction to what goes on in the minds of the BarGirls who work in the Night Clubs, Bars & Go-Go's. If you are planning on visiting these types of establishments .... you must read this book before you do!
Without giving too much away, the story concentrates on the experience of Pete, an accomplished travel writer who is sent to Bangkok to update his companies Thailand Travel Guide.
Needless to say, Pete soon begins to sample the many delights on offer around Nana Plaza and the like and (like so many of us) falls in love with a Bar Girl who works in one of the Nana Go-Go's.
The story gives a fascinating insight into the thoughts and beliefs of both the Thai Girl (Joy) and the lovelorn Farang (Pete). As the story unfolds it details exactly what I see happening around me here in Pattaya.
Whilst it is true to say that neither party in the book is totally blame free, this 'girl friend experience' suffers some major disruptions. Both parties cannot believe that they have done wrong, yet the once 'blissfull' relationship soon goes the way of many and spirals out of control with drastic consequences.
This is a 'Must Read' book and can be downloaded here at Pattaya Parties for free. Download the Private Dancer eBook by Stephen Leather, alternatively, Click here to buy the paperback version of Private Dancer online
