Seeing as though I actually have chosen to live in this part of town, I don't really 'get' the reference but it does add a sense of 'mystery' to the areas reputation.
Not for the first time, the famous FLB Bar Crawl has selected this area to explore, together with 20 intrepid travellers. Two Songthaews (Baht Buses) were arranged to meet the guys at Mikes Shopping Mall in Pattaya, before starting the 20 minute journey to the first venue ... La Guinguette.
La Guinguette is always one of the most popular destinations with guys on the FLB Bar Crawl, something about having a good selection of 'fun' girls mixed in with a private swimming pool always guarantees a good atmosphere!
However, if you do get a little hot, you always have the pool!
The girls are only too eager to join you as well, in fact rumour has it that if you visit La Guinguette at around 8pm in the evening, the pool is full of frollicking females ..... this has yet to be confirmed visually, but I'm sure one of us will get around to this eventually!
The next venue was the Black Pearl drinking / short time bar only 5 mins away. Generally, once again, this bar has an excellent selection of 'up for it' girls and competitive drinks prices. However, due to the fact that the owner has recently opened Black Pearl Two, the choice of girls was limited on this occasion.
Still some great fun to be had though and the 'Belly Tequilas' always go down well with guys and girls alike!
Next it was a very small 'hop' to the Butterfly Bar. A favourite with 'golfers' from the local area, this is a very large complex consisting of Swimming Pools, rooms and outside seating areas.
However, the bar area itself is a little cramped and also absolutely 'pitch black' upon first entry. Once your eyes do adjust though, you are treated to some great looking girls.
Regarding the guys on the crawl, this was the first bar that anyone was tempted to go for a 'short time' in. The other bars were really fun, with a capital 'F', but the butterfly bar has a number of seriously attractive girls.
The couple I spoke with were perfectly fluent in English, so conversation (if that's what you're after) is a breeze.
All too soon though, we were back on the 'buses' again and off to Dao's Bar.
Dao Bar is situated on Soi 5 off Soi Khao Noi, East Pattaya. It also pains me to discuss the location of this place as it is geniunely one of my favourite places in Pattaya!
Again, rather dimly lit upon first entry, but you soon adjust and once again your eyes are treated to a veritable 'feast' of Thai Beauties.
Once again a few barfines were paid for a select few ladies, and they were only too pleased to be joining us for the rest of the FLB Bar Crawl as well as 'Long Time' with a couple of lucky guys.
Unfortunately, for the second time on subsequent 'Darkside' Crawls, we again visited the Paradise Bar on Soi Khao Noi. This is honestly as far removed from my idea of 'Paradise' as possible. The selection of girls was extremly limited, this goes some way to explain the time taken for us to receive our drinks too I guess.
Only one girl spoke English, and she took it upon herself to visit every guy in turn to take their order, very time consuming and probably 'bad' for the other girls too, well what girls there were anyway. Nothing else to say about this bar, nothing good anyway.
Fortunately, once received, everyone finished their drinks in double quick time and we were soon off to friendlier environments.
The Cock Inn is only a little distance away, and a much friendlier bar. Even though the girls were readying the bar for a Party later in the evening, all of the guys had both their drinks and 'company' in a very short time! Very refreshing!
The final Bar was Noi's Bar walking distance away.
Owned and run by Lee and his business partner, the lovely Noi, this is one of the friendliest bars I know. Plenty of girls, good choice of drinks and Air Con in one section of this 'doublewide' bar.
Noi had even taken the time to prepare a selection of Farang Friendly foods for the guys and everyone was very soon enjoying this selection as well as watching the Golf on the Large Screen Projection TV ..... with the company of smiling Bar Girls of course.
A perfect end to a varying, but overall successful day!
My No.1 choice of bar would have to be the Dao Bar for the choice of girls, however, Noi's bar deserves a special recommendation for 'going the extra mile' and providing the best service overall.
